Seth Lord (Service no. 16565) was a First World War soldier with links to the Waltham area.

Born in 1889, Seth Lord was the son of Lawrence and Ellen Lord. Before the war was declared, he worked as a draper and lived with his parents in Wilsons Road, Sydenham. Seth joined the 15th Reinforcements Specialist Machine Gun Corps, 4th Company in 1916.

After training in waitemata, Lance Corporal Seth Lord, service number 16565 embarked on the 26th July 1916.

Seth fought in France for over a year. he was based in Ypres, Belgium and was killed in action on October 4th 1917. Seth is buried at the Tyne Cot Cemetary, Zonnebeke, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. He was just 28 years old.
