Christchurch City Libraries’ annual Photo Hunt is an opportunity to discover photographic treasures that reconnect Cantabrians to cherish, celebrate and commemorate our past.

The 2014 Photo Hunt theme was "Making Connections: Experience our past – present – future"

The categories in 2014 were:

  • People – families, cultural and social events.
  • Places – buildings, suburbs and the city.
  • Two views in time – 2 photos of the same scene, place or person at different time periods. Images could be from any era, depicting any facet of Christchurch’s growth, development, social life or events in the city’s past and present.

Over 440 entries were received.  The judges commented that These photos will be an amazing resource for historians, researchers and art historians and  we are very grateful to all the donors who have shared their precious family photos.   In addition to the winners, 10 highly commended certificates were awarded for both individual photographs and collections of photos.

Christchurch City Libraries has run an annual  Photo Hunt since 2008.
