SCAPE Public Art has been installing free-to-view public art in Christchurch since 1999

James Oram:Sailing Away The Art & Industry Biennial Trust (Trading as SCAPE Public Art Trust) was established in 1998 and organises and facilitates the installation of public art in Christchurch with a focus on the Christchurch Biennials.

During each biennial  the trust installs a number of temporary works and one permanent work which is gifted to the city.  Other projects such as  Solidarity Grid are initiated from time to time.

The first SCAPE was held in 2000 followed by 2002,  2004,2006, 2008 (SCAPE 5), 2011 (SCAPE 6) (the Canterbury earthquakes interrupted the planned 2010 event), 2013 (SCAPE 7), 2015 (SCAPE 8) 2016 (season 16) -[SCAPE 9])
