Marshland Hall Roll of Honour - first portrait.

Caption

This was the first photographic group portrait of Marshland men to be unveiled and hung in the hall, date unknown. The frame reveals the group of portraits was composed on 1 February 1915. This occasion was not reported in any of the local newspapers as was the case with the remaining the later portraits. This portrait is of men who left with the Main Body contingent (their New Zealand Army personnel number is listed in brackets)

The portraits are:

  • Private Robert George Cox (6/1023)
  • Private Albert Frederick Lang (7/357)
  • Private Thomas Joseph Quaid (6/1010)
  • Private Albert Herbert Myers (6/1064)
  • Private Anthony Rogal (6/131)

This photo was one of several which were presumably uplifted from the hall by relatives over the years. It eventually came into the New Zealand National Library collection.
