Christchurch lost its right to host any Rugby World Cup matches following the devastating damage to AMI stadium during the February 22 quake.

But the Christchurch City Council gave the go ahead for a temporary entertainment hub to be set up in North Hagley Park for events.

As well as housing thousands of rugby fans, the temporary village created a new cultural centre for the city.

The hub was  made up of tents and geo-domes that hosted a number of Christchurch events.
