Ferrymead Heritage Park was formed in the 1960s by a group of enthusiasts with the aim of preserving local heritage for future generations to enjoy.

Ferrymead Railway 2 October 2011 199 Ferrymead Heritage Park covers several hectares of land off Bridle Path Road at 50 Ferrymead Park Drive and is home to a number of independent heritage societies and organisations, including tramway and railway enthusiasts who restore and operate vintage trams and trains on the site.  Many heritage societies operate working exhibitions on the site including The Radio Preservation Society of New Zealand who run Radio Ferrymead and a sound museum, Ferrymead Printing Society.   The park also offers a range of educaitonal programmes.

Today the park is operated by the Ferrymead Trust.
