Topic: Langdons Road

Topic type:

Langdons Road runs between the Main North Road and Greers Road.

It was named after Thomas Langdon (1832?-1904), who  was at first a farmer and later a butcher.

Langdon and "his road" are first mentioned in the Star in 1872 in a report of a meeting of the Avon Road Board. He is recorded as a resident of Langdons Road in 1887, the year it first appears in street directories.  - Source Christchurch City Libraries Christchurch Street and Place Names.
