Quick guide to the licenses in use on this Kete
Kete uses Creative Commons licensing. When you register on this site you choose a default license for the material you add to the site. The license can changed if necessary (either for a specific item or in your user account).
From Creative Commons Aotearoa New Zealand:
Creative commons aims to establish a fair middle way between the extremes of copyright control and the uncontrolled uses of intellectual property. It provides a range of copyright licenses, freely available to the public, which allow those creating intellectual property - including authors, artists, educators and scientists - to mark their work with the freedoms they want it to carry.
The Creative Commons international site has information on what to think about when choosing a license and a set of questions to help decide which license to apply.
