Topic: 2015 Christchurch Photo Hunt
Topic type:
Christchurch City Libraries’ annual Photo Hunt is an opportunity to discover photographic treasures that reconnect Cantabrians to cherish, celebrate and commemorate our past.
`
The theme for the 2015 Photo Hunt was ‘Arrivals and Departures — The journeys that have shaped us’.
The categories were:
- People – families, cultural and social events.
- Places – buildings, suburbs and the city.
The judges commented that the theme of 'Arrivals and Departures' was broadly interpreted and gave them plenty to consider. Many of the submissions were considerably enhanced by the stories attached to them and there was a fascinating mix of single images and collections. The range of transport related photos showed that entrants had really picked up on the theme of arrivals and departures.
The winning image was a beautifully composed shot that presents a highly evocative image of a time when air travel was far less common, requiring dressing up in your best outfit.
In addition to the winners, 6 highly commended certificates were awarded for both individual photographs and collections of photos.
