Fun in the Street .

On the 13 July 1945 there was a howling North West gale and the next morning the City of Christchurch and the Canterbury Province woke up to three feet of snow.  Schools were closed for a week and the power was cut off, bur a lot of fun was had by the children.   Melrose Street was very busy with neighbours enjoying throwing snowballs and building snowmen.
